FAKE COP ROBS MAN WITH WATER GUN?

A robber who allegedly pretended to be a policeman and used a water gun to demand money from a man, will have to spend three months in a jail for the act.

Charged with impersonating a police officer and robbery with aggravation is Ken Hanson.

The complainant told the court that on the day of the incident he was at the Kingston Mall with a female companion, when the accused approached him and identified himself as a police officer. The complainant said Hanson asked him what he was doing at the mall so late. He explained: "Him come to mi an say mi mustn't deh pan di mall dem time deh, an wha an wha him can charge mi fah."

He said Hanson held on to his waist and grabbed an item he said he now thinks was a water gun. He said Hanson asked how much money he had on him, and when he told him $800, he told him to hand it over.

The accused, however, told a different story. He said he had no weapon and asked the court why someone would pay over money to a person that they knew only had a water gun. He said he knew the complainant as they both worked as fishermen. He said something fell from the complainant and he picked it up. The complainant, however, said he did not the know the accused. The court then decided to accept Hanson's plea of guilty to the lesser charge of larceny by finding.

The accused revealed that he had been in trouble with the law before and had been sentenced for having a fraudulent passport as well as impersonating a police officer. He also revealed that he had been in custody for one month in the current matter. Resident Magistrate Pusey then replied, "You in custody for one month? Do three more."
