Bail extended in Patrick Roberts' gun trial |
|||||
Patrick Roberts
Producer and politician Patrick Roberts is to return to court in September when the case involving the loss of his firearm is to continue. Roberts, who is head of Shocking Vibes, is facing charges of negligent, loss of a firearm and failure to renew a firearm. The 45-year-old businessman and politician was charged on April 7, after it was alleged that a gun belonging to Roberts was recovered by the police from a man who was involved in a shoot- out. The police said when Roberts was questioned on March 30 in relation to the matter, he admitted that he was unaware that the gun was missing. A file was subsequently sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions who ruled that Roberts should be charged. When the case was mentioned on Wednesday, the court was told that the file could not be located. Roberts' attorney, Valerie Neita Robertson, told the court that she was tired of hearing that the file could not be found. She also lambasted the court's workers, labelling them inefficient, angering Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. The clerk of court told the attorney that he was not sure if the file had been sent up from the Gun Court, which had been dealing with the matter previously. After much arguing, a new mention date of September 7 was set in the matter. Roberts' bail was extended until then. |
