Alleged assaulter charged again

A day after he appeared in court for allegedly beating the 18-year-old mother of his child, Donovan Campbell was back before the court for assaulting a police officer in the precincts of the court.

Campbell, who had been remanded after he showed no remorse and claimed he hit the teen because she does not listen when he speaks, allegedly punched a police officer in the face while he was in the holding area.

The allegations are that while Campbell was being taken from the court he began to behave in a boisterous manner. The police officer reportedly held on to him, but he demanded to be freed and continued to behave in a disorderly way. It is alleged that when he was finally placed in the cell, Campbell pushed his hands through the bars and punched the officer in the face.

When he appeared before Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, Campbell pleaded a loud and unapologetic 'guilty' to the charge. He told the court that he wanted to go home to take care of his baby.

Campbell was again remanded until Friday when he will be sentenced, and when a relative of his is expected to attend court.
