Cops interdicted for firebombing incident

Three policemen from the Portmore Police Station have been interdicted for negligence arising from the firebombing of a house in Portmore.

The inspector and the two constables got the letters of interdiction on Monday indicating that they would only get three-quarters pay.

Reports reaching THE PORTMORE STAR are that the policemen were interdicted for having gone to the wrong address after receiving a report that men were firebombing a house on Rose-mary Lane.

"There are two Rosemary Lanes, one closer to Manley Lane closer to Naggo Head, and the other is situated in the Newland community. The inspector is new and did not know that. As a result, the men went to the wrong one,'' a disgruntled policeman reasoned.

It was revealed that the police would have never been negligent, especially when their colleague's life is being threatened. THE PORTMORE STAR learnt that the incident occurred on the morning when gunmen firebombed the home of the late Corporal Miguel Cuffe, abducted and later murdered him.

The inspector is being interdicted for vicarious responsibility since he was the senior person who dispatched the constables.
