A woman was compensated for her medical expenses and the suffering she endured by the hands of her cousin when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. The accused man, Ryan Hamilton from a Corporate Area address, pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge of unlawful wounding. According to the allegations, Hamilton and the complainant had a dispute that ended when a knife was used to cut the woman in the back of her head. Despite pleading guilty, Hamilton's explanation amounted to self-defence since he told the court that he injured the woman because he was being mobbed by her and two other female relatives. The complainant eventually dropped the case and told the court that she would like to be compensated for her medical expenses and suffering. She was paid some of the money and the court ordered the accused man to complete payment. |
