Bag grabber gets 12 months hard labour

Fray Manning, the Portmore resident who grabbed a bag with more than $300,000 from a church bearer, was sentenced to 12 months hard labour in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Manning was sentenced by Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green.

He was warned that he should not trouble the church's money and although he pleaded guilty a message must be sent.

Manning's appearance arose out of an incident that occurred early September at a commercial bank in Portmore.

The complainant who went to deposit money, gathered as tithes and offerings, was sitting inside a car when Manning grabbed the bag with the money and ran. He was chased and held and handed over to the police who charged him with simple larceny.
