FAKE COP HELD AT STATION?

Arrested after failing to give correct information

A man who allegedly went to the Matilda's Corner Police Station and tried to trick the officers into believing he was a cop, all in the name of retrieving his vehicle which was impounded, ended up behind bars after he was arrested for his criminal mind games.

The accused man is identified as 30-year-old mechanical engineer, Milton Perville of a Corporate Area address.

Allegations are that on December 10, the accused man appeared at the Matilda's Corner Police Station demanding car keys and his vehicle, which was in police custody.

It is alleged that the officers asked Perville who had taken the keys to the station, however, he was unable to answer the question. It is reported that in an effort to retrieve the keys, the accused man said he was an officer attached to the New Kingston Police Station.

no memory

In an effort to find out if the accused was indeed a police officer, it is reported that Perville was asked who was the sub-officer at the station where he was based. He replied he did not remember.

The accused was also asked which police academy he had attended and he laughed.

Perville was later searched and he was found with a knife. He was then arrested and charged for impersonating an officer and being armed with an offensive weapon.

When he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, the accused denied the charge that he was impersonating an officer but pleaded guilty to having the weapon.

He was instructed to pay $2,000 or spend 10 days in prison for having the weapon and was told to return to court on February 15 in relation to impersonating an officer.
