A suspect has been taken into custody for the murder of businessman Fitzroy 'Blue' Farquharson of St Johns Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine. The man in custody has been identified as 23-year-old Tavier Edwards, also from St Johns Road. Reports from the police are that about 2:20 p.m. yesterday, a police operation was carried out in the community. The lawmen said that having gone to a house, Edwards was found in the company of his female companion. He was taken to the Spanish Town Police Station and placed in custody. The police told The Star that Edwards will be charged with murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. Charges of assault and harbouring a fugitive should also be levied against Ivory Davis, the woman in whose company Edwards was found, the police said. Police reported that on October 27, 2009 about 5 p.m., Farquharson was at his business place on St Johns Road when a group of men rode up bicycles and brandished handguns. They shot the businessman repeatedly. He died on the spot. The men, police said, stole the businessman's licensed firearm, but dropped it as they fled during a shoot-out with police who confronted them at the
murder scene. |
