Ex-manager charged with theft for court

A man accused of stealing a Dell computer belonging to the National Youth Service (NYS) is to return to court on March 8, 2010.

The accused, Richard Sharpe, who hails from a Kingston 5 address, has been charged with simple larceny.

The allegations are that the accused was employed to the NYS as the manager of the management information systems department. His services were terminated on October 23 and he was reportedly paid all he was owed up to that point. In lieu of notice, he was to be paid an additional month's salary.

It is alleged that the accused was instructed to return all the company's property and he did so on various days. However, some equipment were outstanding and the police were called in to help retrieve them.

They went to Sharpe's house where they reportedly found a Dell computer, belonging to the organisation, in a sealed box. He was subsequently arrested and charged. He has pleaded not guilty to the offence and is to be tried next year.
