More charges for accused child molester

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A Security Guard who was to be sentenced for a sexual offence in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court got the shock of his life yesterday when he was pleaded on an additional charge.

Gary Fisher, 38, had already pleaded guilty to the charge of procuring a juvenile for sexual intention on Tuesday. But when he appeared yesterday before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green, he was slapped with the additional charge of exposing a child to moral danger. He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Investigating officer Kirk Roach told the court that when he arrested the accused, he was in a hotel room with a minor and had the television on an X-rated channel. The policeman told the court that as a result, he charged the 38-year-old man under Section 19 (a) of the Child Care and Protection Act.

moral danger

It was established that Fisher had put the child in moral danger when he committed the act. He also took the phones of the accused and the complainant with the messages, that Fisher had sent.

The court was told that in early September, the police got information that the accused was stalking the complainant by sending her lewd sex messages about his need to have oral sex with her.

spurned advances

It was revealed that the child spurned Fisher's advances, but he continued to call. The mother of the child told him that the girl was only 15. He stopped for a short while, however, he started again in August and the police was contacted.

A youthful-looking policewoman was used as a decoy and went with the child to the hotel. She gave the signal to her colleagues, and Fisher was caught in the room in the nude.

Fisher is to return to court for sentencing on both matters on December 1.
