$100K FOR TRAFFIC TICKETS

Taxi operator fined for 15 offences

Kemama Wallace has a huge price to pay, $100,000 to be exact. The taxi operator was slapped with this hefty fine after he was found to have accumulated various sums for 15 offences he committed between July and August of this year.

Wallace's expensive woes arose on November 12 when he appeared in the Traffic Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge of refusing to wear a seat belt.

His records were checked and it was found, that he had amassed 15 traffic tickets in less than a month. All investigating officers were subpoenaed and asked to appear in court on November 12.

Eight police officers appeared in court and Wallace eventually changed his plea to guilty. He also pleaded guilty to charges of operating contrary to road licences and failing to comply with traffic signs, among others.

Wallace was ordered to pay the court $101,000 or serve time in prison. Eighteen points were also deducted from his licence. Based on the deductions, his licence was suspended for one year.
