Spanish Town A seven-year-old girl was shot and injured when gunmen invaded her community yesterday. Police say about 8:15 p.m. gunmen entered the Red Pond Community, just outside Spanish Town, St Catherine, and started firing shots. The child was hit and has been hospitalised. Police have detained a number of men in connection with the incident. Spanish Town crime chief, Detective Inspector Paul Thomas, said police will continue to rid the community of criminals. "We are going to redouble our effort in dealing with them, especially now that it is touching the children," he said. Just two weeks ago two children, ages 12 and eight, were among victims shot and injured in Saccada Pen near Old Harbour and a 10-year-old girl remains hospitalised after being shot and injured in Phoenix Park, Dunbeholden, all in St Catherine. |
