Teen 'reunites' with dad

The 14-year-old teen, Joshua Ross, who was yesterday featured in THE WEEKEND STAR, has re-established contact with his Jamaican father, Anthony Brooks.

The teen's mother Alleana Ross said Brooks called her yesterday.

"Joshua was very excited, he was so happy," said Ross, adding that Brooks told her he was telling a friend about Joshua when he received a call from someone telling him to buy a copy of THE WEEKEND STAR as his son was on the front page. She said he called her immediately after seeing the number in the article.

It was an emotional moment for Brooks, who said it was one of the happiest times in his life.

"When Joshua got on the phone he asked 'who is this, daddy?" Brooks said. "I said 'yes' and he just started crying. Even I broke down in tears." Brooks recalled that the last time he spoke to his son was 2005, so to hear his voice after so many years made his day.

Ross is now planning to apply for a passport for her son so he can visit his father.

THE WEEKEND STAR published the story about Joshua after Ross contacted the newspaper.

The teen was badly injured in car accident in Rochester, New York on July 19 which had left him with a spinal cord injury (C2 fracture), bent bones in the right hand, bleeding in the brain and a fractured skull.

While the teen has been recovering, his mother said she was trying to relocate Brooks who he had not spoken to in years.
