A 12-year-old girl was allegedly attacked, severely beaten and bitten yesterday by a group of teenage girls. Reports reaching THE STAR are that the girl was on her way home from school when she was approached by three girls, alleged to be in a gang, who accused her of troubling a relative of theirs. It is said that the girl was not far from her Waterhouse, St Andrew home when the ordeal unfolded. Checks with the Waterhouse police confirmed that the incident occurred some time around 4:00 p.m. school gang A corporal at the station told THE STAR last night that the girl, who attends a school in St Andrew, reported to the station accompanied by her cousin to make a report after the incident. The police also said that complaints about the alleged attackers, who are all related, have been made to them before. "Persons have made complaints about these girls already. They are not from Waterhouse but from time to time they visit family members...We also heard that they are part of a gang at their school," the corporal told THE STAR. According to the police a number of bruises and swellings on the girl's body is evidence of the beating she received. Teeth marks could also be seen around a huge selling on her forehead. The girl was taken to the doctor for medical attention after the police report was made. The victim's cousin told THE STAR that the 12-year-old girl had been approached by the same girls on Monday. "My cousin went to the shop to buy destroyer and when she came back she told us that the girls came to her with some argument about troubling their family," she said before noting that the little girl's mother is abroad and that she was left in the care of other family members. "She has a big swelling on her forehead, I don't even know if it can go down...That's how bad it looks," she added. The police meanwhile say they will be looking to speak with the alleged attackers.
