Health centre closed after murder |

Authorities closed the Rollington Town Health Centre yesterday, after gunmen walked in and shot dead a patient in full view of everyone present. The Kingston Eastern CIB has commenced investigations into the shooting death of the man, identified as Jarvis Duffus, 22, otherwise called 'Jacko' of St. Albans Lane. Police say about 9:05 a.m., Duffus was at the facility awaiting treatment for gunshot injuries, when he was pounced on by two men armed with guns. They opened fire hitting him before escaping; he died on the spot. finish the job Residents reported that the killers had earlier shot and injured the man, then returned to finish the job. Members of the Major Investigations Task Force processed the crime scene and the body was removed to the morgue. "The management of the Region took the decision to temporarily close the health centre because of this tragic incident which has left the staff severely traumatised," Donald Farquharson, Regional Director for SERHA said in a release, encouraging residents to use the Windward Road and Norman Gardens Health Centres. "All the members of staff who were present during the ordeal have been offered counselling by our psychologist. We have also made arrangements for follow-up counselling sessions for those who need it and the affected staff have also been given time off to recuperate." |
