The perfect 'Karma'

Darren Virtue was on the mark again as Virtue Events wrapped up another successful Karma party with a makeshift Michael Jackson adding to the entertainment package.

On a night when celebrity figures came out in their numbers, Karma - the fashionable all-white, all-inclusive affair - did not disappoint.

Virtue got wonderful support from the likes of national footballers Ricardo 'Bibi' Gardner, Ricardo Fuller, Luton Shelton, Ian 'Pepe' Goodison, and Adrian Reid. And, had it not been for the massive venue, the party would have appeared jam-packed.

"I think I spread out the venue too much with the banners and everything. But outside of that fact, everything was good," said Virtue, who is also the promoter for Pretty In Pink, a party that will be a part of the Appleton Temptation Isle party series, which starts next month in Negril.

But there was no doubt that the party, held on Sunday at Temple Hall Estate, in St Andrew, was the right place to be.

signature moves

This makeshift Michael Jackson was quite entertaining.

The Michael Jackson-inspired dancer, clad in the King of Pop's signature short-cut pants and silk shirt, with white glove on his right hand, brilliantly carved out identical dance moves to songs like Beat It, Billy Jean and You Rock My World, bringing the crowd to life.

West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels watched in admiration as the gloved wonder rocked the venue during his appearance, as they paid tribute to the late King of Pop.

"We put that in because we know it was different and people would grab onto it," said Virtue.

A fashion segment, hosted by Jordu fashion store, was timely and gave onlookers an idea of what the store offers. In the background, owner, Yhordanka Akwanza, was all smiles as her models flaunted some fashionable clothing designs.

The selectors were challenged all night to play good music. Darkcide's Wahwa stepped up early and played a number of reggae hits from the early '90s.

The rest was history, as Kurt Riley, Xclusive and Renaissance ensured patrons were bubbling right throughout the night.
