MOH says stay at home

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is reminding persons to remain at home if they are experiencing influenza-like symptoms.

These include, fever, runny nose, coughing, sneezing and body aches. Persons are also being advised that if symptoms are mild they should take regular influenza medication, get adequate rest and remain at home.

If symptoms persist, get worse or are accompanied by shortness of breath, diarrhoea or vomiting, then they should seek immediate medical attention.

The ministry continues to stress the need for persons to observe personal hygiene practices by washing hands frequently with soap and water and covering nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, preferably with a tissue, which should be disposed of properly.

There are 32 confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1) in the island, with no deaths. For more information on Influenza A (H1N1), members of the public may call the ministry's toll-free line at 1888-663-5683 seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
