Community service for sticky fingers |

A man whose sticky fingers got him in trouble with the law will get the chance to put those fingers to work after he was sentenced to 50 hours of community service for simple larceny. plead guilty Owen Wong-Ken pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. The facts are that on June 26, Wong-Ken entered the Super Value supermarket and stole a bar of Cadbury's chocolate. After pleading guilty, he told Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey: "I am sorry about that, Your Honour." Before handing down her sentence, RM Pusey told him, "You're not going to go to prison this time. I'm giving you 50 hours of community service so you can burn off some of the extra sugar. Report here on Monday morning and you will get some work to do. If you don't come, when they catch you, you will serve two years." |
