Three killed in motor vehicle collision

A special constable is among three persons who died in a motor-vehicle collision along the Gilnock main road, St. Elizabeth, on Thursday. Six persons, including an infant, were also injured in the incident.

Dead are Special Constable Craig Bailey of the Area 3 Police, Eric Lewis of New Building district, Naine, and 75-year-old Rosalee Graham of Goshen, both in St Elizabeth. Injured are Justin and Odeon Lewis of New Building district, Sheldon Brown, the infant and two women known only as Michelle and Shantelle. Their ages and addresses have not been ascertained.

Reports are that about 6:45 p.m., a white Toyota Corolla motor car allegedly driven by Brown with Bailey, Michelle, Shantelle and the infant aboard, was travelling from Santa Cruz towards Spur Tree. On reaching a section of the road, the vehicle collided with a white Nissan Sunny motor car driven by Odeon with Eric, Justin and Graham aboard. The occupants of both vehicles sustained injuries and were taken to the Mandeville Hospital where Eric, Graham and Bailey died. The others have been admitted in serious but stable condition.

The Santa Cruz Traffic Department is investigating.
