contributed - Members of the Aabuthnott Gallimore winning team.

A year of intense training and the desire to make a name for their school paid off for the members of the Aabuthnott Gallimore quiz team when they recorded an impressive win over Cedric Titus High School in Television Jamaica's Schools' Challenge Quiz.

From the very outset of the match, it was clear that the team from St Ann had the edge. The Cedric Titus team tried to answer a few questions, but most attempts were unsuccessful. At the end of the first segment, Aabuthnott Gallimore was on 10 points, while its opponents trailed on seven.

In section two of the match, the trend continued. Cedric Titus failed to make use of the 'minutes' section, mostly offering pass as answers to the questions asked. The team gained no additional points in this section. Aabuthnott Gallimore on the other hand, did a fairly good job of adding points. At the end of this segment, the team was on 23 points.

well-prepared

The third section of the match was dominated by the Aabuthnott Gallimore team. It gained and lost points throughout this section, but in the end still managed to remain on top. It was clear that the team was well-prepared and confident and this helped to make an impressive mark. Cedric Titus on the other hand only managed to get four additional points. At the end of the match, Aabuthnott Gallimore was on 31 points, while Cedric Titus was on seven.

Coach of the Cedric Titus team, Floyd Green, said of his team's performance: "Well, they did pretty much good. It's their first time entering and hopefully next year they'll do much better."

Kemar Bowers, Aabuthnott Gallimore's coach, told THE STAR: "Last year we came and it was our first time and it was a challenge. We decided that we would come back and make a positive transition from last year. We've been studying, practising and getting information. This is just the beginning of what is to come."

The Aabuthnott Gallimore team members: Wilbert McIntosh, Rushane Reid, Daren Johnson and Giovaughn Miller
