Portmore United's Under-21 coach, Desmond Smith, has been slapped with a $10,000 fine and placed on probation for the rest of the season.
The decision was taken following a meeting of the Jamaica Football Federation's (JFF) Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday evening.
Smith was summoned before the committee after being ejected on three occasions for foul and abusive language directed at officials throughout the season. His third offence was committed during the first end of round final played against Meadhaven United on December 16, 2008. Portmore United won 2-1.
The show goes on
Clive Marshall, general manager of Portmore United, in an interview with Star Sports, stated that the decision by the JFF to place Smith on probation would not prevent him from carrying out his duties with the club.
"It is an unfortunate occurrence but until we receive a report from the JFF we cannot make a ruling at the club level," Marshall said.
"We are not in a position to say whether the ruling is good or bad as it is the referee's report that is used by the JFF. We have to conduct our own investigations after we receive the report to determine if we will take any action as well," he added.
Meanwhile, the Portmore United duo of Andre Dyce and Cornelious Henry were each fined $500 and reprimanded for violent conduct.
Lijyasu Simms of Meadhaven United, who was also ejected from the Under-21 end of round final for using foul and abusive language, was fined $2,000 and reprimanded.
Meadhaven United player, Nackwayne Parchment, was fined $1,000 for two counts of violent conduct and reprimanded.
Sporting Central's Erron Brown and Wayne Walker of Meadhaven United were also summoned for the use of offensive, abusive language but failed to show.
