Serani robbed in St Croix

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

Serani - File

'Singjay' Serani was robbed and his life threatened at gunpoint last Sunday night after a show in St Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

When the STAR spoke to Craig 'Serani' Marsh's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, yesterday, he said that Serani and his road manager were robbed of their wallets, jewellery and money.

Jones-Griffith explained that clues seemed to point to persons at the show from which the artistes were coming.

He said: "They (Serani and his road manager) were booked in a hotel far from the venue and no one followed them from the venue to the hotel. It was the promoter who dropped them off. He dropped them outside, not that close to the hotel."

Jones-Griffith continued: "Two gunmen approached them outside the hotel. They put the gun in Serani's face and told him they would kill him. They carried them inside and made them lie down on the ground, they robbed them of money. He was coming from two other shows, one in St Thomas and the guys knew about that St Thomas, money."

Cops investigating

According to Jones-Griffith, after the robbery, calls were made to the promoter but no one has been able to reach him since Sunday night. The issue is being handled by the local police in St Croix and when last Jones-Griffith checked, the police were questioning a female witness who saw both gunmen.

Serani was expected back into the island yesterday and according to Jones-Griffith, "He (Serani) was shaken up. It's not something for anyone to go through."

Serani's No Games is making waves on the Billboard charts. The artiste is busy travelling for shows and according to Jones-Griffith, has a few major record labels vying to sign him.
