Giving my life to the Lord

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

Green is about to be dipped into the water by Bishop Barrington DaCosta, who is assisted by Officer Paul Cohen.

"God is a resource that can never run dry. God will always make preparation for his people. Wherever you are and whatever condition you are in, God will always be there for you," said Reverend Garfield Wilson, who gave this assurance just before the baptism of Jerome Green, at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God, in Clarendon.

Wilson told Green and other worshippers that with God in their lives, they can change what he described as their 'Mariah experience'. He, however, noted that the day persons get baptised in God, does not mean that all things are going to be smooth sailing for them from then on, but that there would be long-suffering, among other things encountered.

Spared his life

Green, who closed his eyes during his testimony before he was called into the pool for the religious rite, said he was very thankful to God who spared his life so that he could have been saved and baptised.

He begged the congregation to pray for him, because he wanted to serve the Lord in the best way, because he loves Him with all his heart.

Bishop Barrington DaCosta who performed the baptism, noted that Green's step is the right one, because he was doing what the Bible in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 12: 1-4 asked.

Overjoyed

DaCosta noted that Green, remembered the Creator in the days of his youth and that his baptism was part of the request made by Jesus for man to repent and be baptised for the remission of his sins.

The newly baptised Christian, who appeared overjoyed, was met with numerous handshakes and hugs from members of the congregation after he changed out of his wet outfit. They encouraged him and promised to pray for him, as he requested during his testimony.
