Fire of unknown origin damaged a section of the Jubilee Market at West Queen Street and West Parade in downtown, Kingston, yesterday.

The Kingston Central police, who are investigating, reported that about 12:15 was seen coming from a section of the market.

The police and fire brigade were summoned and four fire units - two from Trench Town and two from York Park, extinguished the blaze - but not before several stalls owned by vendors were destroyed.

Up to late yesterday, an estimate of the damage was not yet ascertained.
