Two men shot dead on New Year's Day

Two men were shot and killed in separate incidents in St Catherine on New Year's Day. The St Catherine South Police are investigating both killings.

In the first incident, a 26-year-old man was shot dead by gunmen at Daniel Circle, Portmore Lane. He has since been identified as Dwayne Daley of Papine, St Andrew.

Reports from the Constabulary Communications Network are that about 8 a.m., Daley was at a house when he responded to a knock on the door. Four men armed with guns barged in and opened fire, hitting him several times. He died on the spot. The crime scene was processed by the police and the body removed to the morgue. The Bridgeport Police are investigating.

In the second incident, the Old Harbour Police in St Catherine have commenced a probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an unidentified man at High House, Old Harbour in the parish.

He is of medium build, brown complexion, about 173 centimetres tall and was clad in black jeans pants, black T-shirt and black shoes.

Reports from the CCN are that about 10:15 a.m., residents saw the body on the roadside and called the police. Lawmen who arrived on the scene found the body with multiple gunshot wounds. The crime scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.

Investigation continues into both killings.
