Red hot A-Town target Bull Bay

Robert Bailey, Star Writer

August Town's Terrence Allen

Red-hot August Town will face Bull Bay in tomorrow's feature game of the Claro Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super League competition at Bull Pen starting at 3 p.m.

Since being relegated from top-flight football last season, after a two-year tenure, August Town certainly seem to have began the new Super League season like a team on a mission, netting very impressive victories in their first three games.

The team began their campaign with 6-0 thrashings of Liguanea and promoted Real Mona before cruising to a 5-1 win over Mountain view last week. However, Bull Bay, perennial contenders for the league's top spot will be much tougher opposition.

This is a fact not lost on the Calvert Fitzgerald-coached August Town, who have netted 17 goals, while conceding only one in their first three games.

"Bull Bay are always a very good team because they have consistently finished in the top four of this competition, we have to respect them for that," Fitzgerald said.

"Tomorrow, we want to be very sound in our defensive area, keep possession of the ball and make sure that we put away all our scoring chances. "I don't think we played well in our last game, but we are working on the mental aspect of our game and I hope that we can get it right in this one," he added.

Strikers Nicholas McCreath and Donavan Hibbert, who have five goals each will lead August Town's goal hunt.

Won't concede

Kenrick Barnaby, despite seeing his team get off to a less convincing start to the season than their opponents, does not intend to concede any ground.

"They have a number of good players on their team because they have just been demoted from the Premier League, but we are going out there to compete with them toe to toe," he said.

"I don't like the way that we have been playing at the moment because we are just not putting away our chances.

"However, I think that our substitutes have been playing well for us, they have given the team a lift whenever we have needed it during our games and if need be should do the same tomorrow," Barnaby added.

In the day's other games, Cavaliers, who edged Duhaney Park 2-1 in their last match, tackle Maverley/Hughenden at the Constant Spring Sports Complex, Police National battle Real Mona at Buttercup Park, Mountain View host Constant Spring at Excelsior High School, the Jamaica Defence Force face Liguanea at Jamaica College and Duhaney Park host Santos at Baldwin Crescent.
