MAN KILLED DURING NEW YEAR'S GUN SALUTE

A man from St James was shot and killed in his community yesterday morning during a gun salute to usher in 2009 .

Kimani 'Bread Back' Manderson, 20, of Meggie Hill, Salt Spring, was shot dead during a New Year's Eve party.

Reports received by the Constabulary Communication Network are that about 12:10 a.m., Manderson was at the party where a group of men were celebrating. Persons in the crowd were reportedly giving gun salutes when Manderson was shot. The police were alerted and he was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The Montego Bay police are investigating.
