Cops say that angry residents on Wednesday beat and used a knife to cut the body of a man accused of murdering his female companion in Mandeville, Manchester.
The body of 43-year-old farmer, Alvin James of Bombay District in the parish was violated by persons mourning the death of 39-year-old Adma Smith, aka 'Dell', a businesswoman of lot 69 Hibiscus Gardens, in Mandeville.
The police reported that Smith's 18-year-old daughter, Kadian, was home alone about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, when James visited the house.
It is reported that he waited until Smith came home from her businessplace in Williamsfield, Manchester, at about 10:30 p.m. It is further reported that he and Smith went into one bedroom while Kadian went into another.
Found hanging from a tree
Wednesday morning, Kadian reportedly got news that James had committed suicide, after his body was found hanging from a tree close to his house. She went to her mother's room to inform her but found her lying face down on her bed, with a piece of cord wrapped around her neck.
The police were informed and a team from the Mandeville Police Station visited the scene to investigate. James' white Volvo was seen parked in the garage at the house.
Knife wound
When a hearse turned up to take Smith's body, it was discovered that the vehicle was also transporting James' body. It was then that residents started to deliver blows to the dead man's body for the murder of Smith. A knife wound was inflicted to the forehead of the body.
The Manchester Police, who are investigating the deaths, confirmed that they are being treated as a suspected murder/suicide.
