Three men were arrested on Monday and charged with possession of, trafficking and dealing in ganja, while two additional charges were also laid against one of them by a team from the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) in Port Antonio, Portland.
Arrested and charged are 34-year-old Keith Montaque of Windsor Castle district in Portland, Sariko Russell, 32, of 45 Nelson Street, Buff Bay, Portland, and 33-year-old Wayne Brown of School Field district in St Elizabeth.
According to Inspector Lansdale Pinnock of the ISCF, on the day in question, about 11:30 a.m., a team of ISCF officers spotted a white Toyota corolla motor car with three men along the Spring Garden main road.
"The three men aboard the vehicle were seen acting suspiciously," he said. "The car was intercepted and ganja weighing approximately five pounds was found on the front passenger seat, and also on the floor of the vehicle. The three were arrested and charged with the drug find."
Montaque, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the drug find, was slapped with two additional charges after it was discovered that he was operating the car without a driver's licence and no insurance coverage.
The three are booked to appear in the Buff Bay Resident Magistrate's Court today.
