Twenty-eight-year-old Lenworth Campbell, otherwise called 'Bobby' of Sandy Bay, Hanover, was shot and killed by a gunman at Hell Gate, Montpelier, in the parish yesterday morning.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network's liaison officer for Hanover are that about 10 a.m., Campbell was aboard a motor car travelling along Barnes Lane in the Hell Gate community.
Parked vehicle
On reaching a section of roadway, the vehicle slowed to pass another which was parked. A man armed with a gun exited the parked vehicle and opened fire, hitting Campbell several times before escaping in the motor car. The police were alerted and Campbell taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Lucea police, who are investigating, theorise that Campbell's killing might have been in reprisal for the shooting death of 17-year-old Janoy Davidson in Sandy Bay on Monday night. The police are now seeking a man known only as 'Brownman' for questioning in relation to Campbell's death.
