Colours International were rewarded for taking the double in the Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League (PMCL) at an awards ceremony at Ken's Wildflower's Sports Bar on Port Henderson Road recently.

Colours International took the two major trophies of the year, the Christeen Cummings Cup for winning the U-15 League and the Tony Becca Cup for capturing the Petcom/MegaMart senior League final with a four-wicket win over Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Omarie Williams, who plays for Ken's Wildflower in the Milo-sponsored U-15 league took the lion's share of the awards. Williams' trophies include best bowling average (1.78), most wickets (14), best all-rounder and U-15 Player of the Year.

Most Valuable Plays

Other junior players getting awards were his teammate Chevon Morris, Most Valuable Player in the U-15 final; Orville Thompson from Portsmouth for most wickets in a match (6-18), best batting average (90) and most runs in the league (90).

The top two players from the Senior League include Ken's Wildflower's Junior Stewart who copped the most runs (143) and best wicketkeeper awards; Portsmouth's David Bernard Jr who walked away with the best bowling average and the best all-rounder awards. Another Portsmouth player, Delbert Gayle, won the most valuable player for the Senior League final. This is significant as Gayle had the age to play in the U-15 League.

back on-board

All four sponsors, Suzanne Wilson-Wong, Category Chanel Sales; development manager of Milo, Alphanso Chambers; sales and marketing manager of Petcom, and director of operations of MegaMart, Jeffery Gordon, gave assurances that they are back on-board for next year's competitions.

Dignitaries in attendance include Paul Campbell, president of the Jamaica Cricket Association; Lindel Wright, first vice-president of the JCA; Sharon Hay-Webster, vice-president of the PMCL and member of parliament for South Central St Catherine; Colin Fagan, MP for South East St Catherine and Fitz Jackson, MP for South St Catherine.
