New Green again

Richard Bryan, STAR Writer

New Green will for the second straight year represent Manchester in the national knock-out football competition after defeating Hill Stars 1-0 at Brooks Park last Thursday.

Patrick "Pam Pam" Lindsay, recently transferred from Premier League team Village United of Trelawny, scored the all important goal - burying a 20-yard freekick after the Hillstars custodian, Kirkland Holness, had handled the ball just outside the 18-yard area.

Once again New Green proved themselves to be the top team in the parish as it was also the second straight year that the Brumalia Hardware/Locker Room-sponsored tournament had featured the same finalists. However, both teams have been having contrasting form in the South Central Confed Super League.

New Green are yet to register a win in three games since re-entry in the Super League, earning just a point from a 1-1 draw with Humble Lions, while going down 1-2 to both Naggo Head and Tafari Lions. All three games were played at Brooks Park.

Hillstars, on the other hand, have been among the front runners earning seven points in three games.
