Trinidad and Tobago's national team prospects will have their last chance to impress selectors in the 12th North/South Pizza Hut/QPCC Gerry Gomez Memorial Cricket Cup Classic starting this weekend.

The four-day classic will bowl off on Sunday and will end on December 31 at the Queen's Park Oval.

The game will also be the final chance for the top local players to address the selectors in their bid to represent the country in the Carib Beer Regional first-class competition, starting on January 9.

Defending champions North will be going for their third consecutive win in the match and the all-rounder Rayad Emrit is at the helm looking to repeat their handsome success last year.

Promising 16-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Yannic Cariah is also included in the North set-up.

Around spinners

Apart from Emrit, their bowling attack will revolve around spinners Cariah and Sunil Narine and will be backed up by pacers Richard Kelly, Kevon Cooper, Navin Stewart and Rishaad Harris.

National batsmen Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo will be expected to provide the runs with Justin Guillen.

South will be led by T&T's inspirational captain Daren Ganga, shouldering the batting responsibility along with 18-year-old Adrian Barath, Sherwin Ganga and Imran Khan.

Leading the bowling charge for the Southerners will be Test spinners Dave Mohammed and Amit Jaggernauth along with Magnum Nanan and Sanjiv Gooljar.

T&T will begin their campaign in the regional first-class season on January 9 away to Barbados.
