One week after police in Spanish Town raided a dance, they were at it again, however this time it was for the detention of persons to serve God.
The occasion on Sunday was put on by the Association of Peace Officers on the grounds of the Spanish Town Police Station, and The Star witnessed how the police used words of the gospel through songs and praises to capture many persons.
The station service was one where the lawmen decided to take the church to the members of the public instead of having the members of the public visit the church.
A good sermon by Constable Christopher Bent awoke the consciousness of several persons. "Mi neva know seh police could sing and praise God suh, mi think dem only know feh use gun, but this feel good man," said Beverley Brown, who was 'detained' by the gospel at the station.
The congregation, made up of church members throughout the various police districts, along with police personnel who are Christians, was one that was a true reflection of peace close to the Christmas season.
Among those in attendance was Assistant Commissioner Leon Rose, who wish success on the lawmen on the task they have ahead, even in the festive season.
Leader of the Association of Peace Officers, Corporal Cyril Francis, said the aim is to foster good relationship through Christ, as the police, in their midst to provide protection, also need the protection of their Maker.
