Three major features are among the early entries in the 2009 Reggae Film Festival. Babylon, a British feature by director Chris Menges and starring former Aswad lead singer Brinsley Forde; Made In Jamaica, a music documentary featuring some of reggae's greats; and What Goes Around, an American. feature starring Mavado, will each have Jamaican premieres at the festival, to be held at Emancipation Park, February 23-27.

British entertainment magazine Time Out says: "Babylon is a raw and incendiary film employing an effective mix of music and social commentary to recount the everyday experiences of a small group of working class black youths living in South London. Driven by a musical score composed and arranged by legendary reggae guitarist, Dennis Bovell, with additional songs by Yabby U, I-Roy and Aswad."

Made In Jamaica is a documentary of Jamaican music history by award-winning French director Jerome Lapperousaz. The film showcases performances by the reggae and dancehall artistes like Capleton, Third World, Elephant Man, Lady Saw, Bunny Wailer and many more who have risen from their native ghetto to international fame and today represent the 'Jamaican dream'.

What Goes Around is a US feature that follows the romantic relationships of two brothers. Written and directed by Steve 'Tehut-Nine' McAlpin, 'Gully God' Mavado plays himself and the American. cast includes music celebs Flippa Mafia and KC Jockey.

The Reggae Film Festival is presented by the Jamaica Film Academy, a project of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports.
