Deadly point

A man who reportedly pointed a gun at a member of a police party during an operation at Gravel Lane, Albert Town, Trelawny, on Saturday morning was fatally shot and the gun seized.

The dead man, who is unidentified, is believed to be in his early 20s, of dark complexion, medium build and was clad in jeans pants and sports cornrows.

Reports are that about 6:35 a.m., a team of police was on an operation in Gravel Lane. On approaching a premises, the man allegedly pointed a gun at a member of the party and was shot. The weapon, a home-made gun with one 12 gauge cartridge, was taken from him. He was taken to the Falmouth Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe into the matter.
