Cops kill Dread in alleged shoot-out

A dreadlocks man was fatally shot after he challenged the police at Terminal Road, Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine, Friday night.

A Heckler and Koch pistol was taken from him.

The dead man, who is unidentified, is of dark complexion, slim build, and about 178 centimetres tall. He was clad in a dark coloured shirt, blue jeans pants and black and white sneakers.

Police say about 10 p.m., a police team, upon reaching a housing scheme, saw a group of men acting suspiciously. They were accosted but pulled guns and engaged the police in a shoot-out.

When the shooting subsided, the unidentified man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The gun with four rounds of ammunition was taken from him. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died. The Bureau of Special Investigations is probing the incident.
