Former national allrounder, Deron Dixon, has been appointed manager of Jamaica's senior cricket team.
Dixon replaces Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) secretary Milton Henry.
In a release yesterday the JCA said Dixon will commence his duties immediately for a period of two years following his appointment on Tuesday.
The release lauded Henry whose sterling contribution to the game saw the seniors winning all their 2008 competitions, with the one exception being the Twenty20 tournament, which they lost to Trinidad.
"We .... congratulate Deron Dixon on his appointment, and look forward to the continuance of our successful campaign," JCA president, Paul Campbell said.
He added: "We also wish to thank Milton Henry for his outstanding contribution to the growth of our game and our national senior team, and look forward to continue working with him in his capacity as secretary of the JCA."
Regarding Dixon's appointment, Campbell said, "As a former player, Deron Dixon no doubt has the respect of our senior players."
"We believe his knowledge of the game and experience in administration augurs well for the development of our players who aspire to represent the West Indies in the future." Campbell said Dixon's appointment was part of a strategic plan to sustain links and involvement of former cricketers, in roles such as coaching, mentoring, administration, umpiring, team advisers/managers and match refereeing."
