Accused scammer killed

A man who was before the court for his alleged involvement in the infamous lottery scam was found dead in Irwin, St James, yesterday.

Yowo Morle, 27, of Bogue Village in St James, was found dead in a grey Nissan Skyline on West Avenue in Irwin. Police reports are that residents heard explosions about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night and police were called to the scene about 6:30 a.m. where they found Morle dead.

He was before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court after being jointly charged with his 48-year-old mother, Hazel Clarke, for obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy to defraud and engaging in transactions that involve criminal property.

They were alleged to have fleeced over US$600,000 (J$42.6 million) from American citizens in the lottery scam.
