Accused Bike robbers remanded

Black River

Two men charged with attempted robbery, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm, were remanded when they appeared in the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

They are Rodin Watkins, 27, of Glenco Housing Scheme in Santa Cruz, and Junior Goss of Braes River, both in St Elizabeth.

The court heard that on November 26, at 10:20 p.m., two men were at a bar at Top Hill district in the parish when the two accused entered, held them up and demanded the the key to their motorbike. The accused then opened fire, injuring the two complainants, who were taken to the Mandeville Hospital.

One of the robbers, who was also shot by his crony, was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he was held by the May Pen police.

The other man was subsequently held and both were pointed out at an ID parade.

A bail application was turned down by Resident Magistrate D. Meyler-Reid. The men are scheduled to return to court on January 21, when their case will be mentioned.
