Spanish Town
Investigators in Spanish Town, St Catherine, were kept busy yesterday with the killing of two men in separate incidents by gunmen.
About 6 p.m., a man known only as Pedigree was shot and killed at a car wash stand in Thompson Pen, St Catherine. Residents reportedly heard explosions, the police said, and made an alarm. When the lawmen turned up, Pedigree was found in a pool of blood.
His death came hours after gunmen struck in the busy Spanish Town Sagicor Centre, killing Noel Williams, 36, a barber of Old Road, Thompson Pen.
Shoot him repeatedly
Williams, who is also called 'Bobo', was doing business in a wholesale photo store when he was reportedly approached by two men who proceeded to shoot him repeatedly. He is said to have died on the spot. As his attackers attempted to escape, they were confronted by policemen along March Pen Road. And after a shoot-out, one of the gunmen was hit. He later died at the hospital. The police seized a Glock pistol from him.
Up to late yesterday evening, police told The Star that they were searching for the unidentified man's accomplice.
Several persons expressed the view that the killing of Pedigree might be an act of reprisal. The police said that they are looking into that theory also.
Pedigree's death brings to 179, the number of murders recorded in St Catherine North Division since the start of 2008.
