Diffi 'cult' to understand

Dear Pastor,

It has been brought to my understanding that people involved in the cults have been writing letters to schools, requesting boys and girls for sacrifices, and that the children are needed for a strong ritual to be done before December 24, 2008.

I have heard, too, that they have been going around injecting people with AIDS virus, kidnapping children, using sleeping potions, and tying ropes around their necks.

Personally, I praise and trust my Jesus and I know that he will fix it. My concern is why isn't the public being informed about this? Why are the schools being so silent? Is it because they too are in on the act? Most importantly, where are the Christians and the Church, which should be rebuking these disgusting elements from the world.

Pastor, I really need your response!

S.M., Jamaica

Dear S.M.,

I was reluctant to publish this letter. However, I have heard lots of rumours. A rumour is a rumour and one has to be careful how one handles a rumour.

The police cannot confirm the type of rumour, which you have mentioned. It is very easy to blame others for what is happening. Do you see how quick you were to attack churches and schools and to accuse them of not doing anything?

Lots of people are panicking because it is easier to believe lies than the truth. We know men have kidnapped young girls, and even boys, but some of the things you have said are not true at all.
