Spice threatens to sue over abuse claim

Spanish Town

Female entertainer Grace Hamilton, aka Spice, said she is considering suing a media house for publishing untrue stories about her regarding a recent incident.

The entertainer spoke with The Star at the Spanish Town courthouse on Wednesday, while her child's father was being processed for bail.

"He (babyfather) did not mash up mi face or have mi hospitalise as was reported," said Hamilton, "we only had a disagreement. And I was shocked to read that. It is for this reason why I am considering legal actions, but I am waiting to be advised."

Working it out

Spice told The Star that she and her child's father are trying to work out their differences.

Despite the claim by the entertainer, however, who has hits such as Fight Over Man, the police in Old Harbour confirmed that the charges against Spice's baby-father are that of assault, occasioning bodily harm.

The bail of $150,000 was taken up on Wednesday, days after it was granted in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate's Court, on condition that the accused surrenders his travel documents to the police. He is also required to return to court on January 7.

Resident Magistrate's Vashti Chatoor presided over the case.

The accused man told The Star that he believes Spice's recent battle in parts of the media will build her career.

"I think what happened will work to build her up instead of working negatively against her," he said.
