Reggae Boyz physical trainer, Junior McBean, will wait until November 28 to be sentenced for using a forged birth certificate to obtain a passport.
He appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday but another date was set. McBean, who was using the name Sean Samuels, pleaded guilty to false declaration, obtaining a passport by false means and uttering forged documents.
In the first hearing, McBean's attorney-at-law, Churchill Neita, said his client's problems began in 1987 when he played football in Seaview Gardens. With his age being an issue, the coach allegedly suggested that he get a fraudulent birth certificate. He said it was from then he got the birth certificate and later went on to represent Galaxy football team in May Pen, Clarendon.
McBean attended G.C. Foster College and a school in Hungary, where he studied physical education.
McBean was allegedly travelling with the passport under the fraudulent name and had American, Canadian and English visas. Neita said when McBean went to get another passport, the fraud was discovered and he was arrested. Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown extended McBean's bail.
