Student kills classmate at Dunoon

A 16-year-old student of the Dunoon Park Technical High School was stabbed to death during a dispute over a cellular phone on the school grounds yesterday.

His 16-year-old classmate has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Dead is Shevon Johnson of Gregory Park, St Catherine.

Over phone battery

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that about 9:45 a.m., the boys were in class when a dispute developed between them over a cellular phone battery. The dispute escalated into a fight during which a knife was used to stab Johnson twice. He died on the spot. His attacker attempted to flee but was held by a Jamaica Constabulary Force's school resource officer.

The Kingston East police are investigating.
