Michael McLean, Santa Cruz
Ainsley Huntley Rodney, one of two men charged with larceny of goats, was sentenced to two months hard labour in the Santa Cruz Resident Magis-trate's Court last week Tuesday.
His accomplice Wayne Smith, who was jointly charged, changed his plea and a new trial date was set for him to return to court on December 4.
Caught with ram goats
Both men, of Red Hills district, Lacovia, St Elizabeth, were caught with two ram goats valued over $40,000. They pleaded guilty when they first appeared in court last month.
Allegations are that on October 2, 2008, the owner of the goats reported the animals missing to the Lacovia police and a day later the two accused men, one of whom was the driver of a car, were caught with the goats in the trunk of the vehicle. They were then arrested and charged by the police and brought before the Santa Cruz RM Court where they were remanded.
