Cops arrest colleague - Linked with girl's disappearance

The Area Four police have identified another policeman as a 'person of interest' in connection with the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl.

THE STAR has learnt that the second policeman is now in custody, while the police say they are following strong leads.

"A number of other persons have been interviewed and we have gathered a number of statements ... We are following some strong leads but we still want to make an appeal to persons with information to come forward and assist us," crime chief for the East Kingston police, Deputy Super-intendent Michael Ellis, said.

The suspect's identification is being withheld, pending further investigations.

Allegations of carnal abuse

The girl is at the centre of a probe into allegations of carnal abuse involving 22-year-old Constable Rushon Hamilton of the Harbour View Police Station.

Constable Hamilton was charged last Monday with carnal abuse, indecent assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice after being accused of having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl on October 4.

The offence was reported, and while investigations were being carried out, the teenager was allegedly forced to change the statement which she gave the police

Two weeks ago, she was reportedly abducted from her home, as she stood at her gate, and has not been seen since.
