Sounds of Shema

Shema with dad Freddie.

A small frame holding a powerful voice could easily describe Yeshemabeth 'Shema' McGregor.

She describes herself as an eclectic mix. But, while some persons may call Shema's style pop, no one can say the singer isn't melodious.

One just has to hear the dubs on radio for her song Caught Up to get carried away with the singer's voice. Shema is a natural on stage, having done backup vocals for her mother, Judy Mowatt, from age nine, and for her father Freddie McGregor since she turned 17.

Currently working on singles produced by her brother Stephen McGregor, Shema is trying to fine-tune her album. While the album is not yet titled, she has already released four albums in Japan to good responses.

The sole female musician in a household of males, Shema says she is never overshadowed by the work of her brothers, one of whom is dubbed a 'genius'. Instead, she sees her music and personality as just a bit "different".
