Rain no play in SDC 20/20 finals

Rain on Saturday over most parishes forced the Social Development Commission (SDC) to postpone all parish final matches in its national community cricket competition.

There was bright sunshine yesterday in most areas but the cricket pitches and outfields were waterlogged in several communities where matches were scheduled.

The venue for the weekend's feature match at Dunrobin Cricket Grounds on Dunrobin Avenue in Kingston was severely affected. An inspection of the field early yesterday morning showed multitudes of puddles on the boundaries and soft run-ups for the bowlers. The pitch itself was covered with newly grown grass.

All parish finals have been rescheduled for next Sunday at the designated locations. The national final has now been set for Sunday, December 14 at Alpart Sports Club in St Elizabeth.

The parish winners will pocket $30,000 while the runners-up will receive $15,000. The national winners will get $150,000 and the second-place team will walk away with $75,000.
