12-y-o held with ganja

The Linstead police in St Catherine are searching for the grandparents of a 12-year-old girl who was caught with more than 150 kilograms (330 lb) of ganja in the town, yesterday.

Police said about 3:20 p.m. a team was on patrol in the town when they saw the child acting suspiciously. She was searched and 75 pieces of vegetable matter resembling ganja, wrapped in plastic, and one and a half kilogram that was not wrapped, were taken from her.

Inspector David White, sub-officer in charge of the Linstead police, say they are now searching for the child's grandparents, who she claimed she was selling the drugs for.

The child was charged with possession of and dealing in ganja.

White said there's an all-out effort to rid Linstead of people selling drugs, be it crack/cocaine, heroine/cocaine or ganja.
